Marriage requires a give and take, it's part of the relationship, but there may be something there you're not noticing which is causing a major problem. The way people respond to different issues sometimes causes problems, you need to understand to know if there's a problem which needs your attention.
Communication is the key to every human relationship especially marriage. Marriages can fail based on a lack of good communication. Consider these ideas: Are you living a separate life? Do you fight every time you talk? Do you each avoid talking to each other? If any of these are answered in a positive manner there must be some work done to open the positive communication again. You'll have to search for the direction to take but you must spend some energy on this area.
Sexual indifference when the sex prior to this was good may be an indication of an underlying problem. Medical issues can cause this but that can be cleared up by a visit to a doctor. There may be a power issue or lack of communication contributing to this lack of sex. If so, it's important to begin to try to get back together physically because the physical aspect is important to the marriage.
Power Struggles. Many times if a relationship is unbalanced, or one spouse is made to feel inferior, power struggles may arise. This is natural; however, it does need to be addressed because many times there are underlying issues of resentment and fear in relationships like this.
Affairs or cheating is usually sexual but this isn't always what the cheating spouse is looking for, it may just be the affection that comes with the sex. Some marriages will survive affairs but it's hard to get the trust back. If the trust doesn't return the marriage may not survive.
